Our Story

The full story.

Not a pitch. Just what actually happened.

01 Before Fyntrax

I didn't set out to build accounting software.

I set out to pass my CA exams, help small businesses get their books in order, and eventually open a practice. That's still the plan — Fyntrax is part of it, not a detour from it.

For over a year, I did bookkeeping the hard way. Client files in spreadsheets, invoices tracked manually, reconciliation by hand. Some of my clients were using QuickBooks — which is fine, if you're an accountant. Most of them weren't. They were business owners trying to run operations and understand their own finances at the same time. QuickBooks wasn't built for that. Neither was anything else I could find that they could actually afford.

02 The problem I couldn't ignore

The gap isn't just price. It's design intent.

Enterprise tools are built for accountants to use on behalf of businesses. Lightweight tools skip the accounting fundamentals altogether — no double-entry, no accrual basis, no audit trail. You get something that looks like accounting but doesn't behave like it.

What if the tool was built for the business owner, but it still did the accounting right?

I kept thinking: what if you didn't need to understand debits and credits to get clean books — but the debits and credits were still there, correct, under the hood?

That question sat with me for a long time before I did anything about it.

03 Building it

I started building Fyntrax in the gaps.

Between studying and client work. No team, no funding, no product roadmap deck. Just a problem I understood deeply and a stack I was willing to learn properly.

The AI piece came later — and it changed everything. I didn't want a chatbot that could rename expense categories. I wanted an agent that thought about accounting the way I did. One that could catch an imbalanced entry, explain the P&L in plain language, or walk a client through what their cash flow statement actually meant. That took time to get right. I don't think it's perfect. But it's closer than anything else I've seen at this price point.

04 What this is

Fyntrax isn't a startup in the traditional sense.

There's no Series A. No growth team. No pivot in the works.

It's software built by someone who's been inside the problem — professionally, not hypothetically. Every feature exists because I either needed it myself, or watched a real business owner need it and not have it.

My goal is straightforward: professional-grade accounting for every small business, not just the ones that can afford a full-time accountant. If Fyntrax helps someone run cleaner books, understand their numbers, and spend less time on admin — that's the win.
